This complex is situated on what used to be a football pitch, and its urban development represents a dificult conection with the adjadcent town structure. The general disposition is based on the nineteenth century organization of "calle Santo Domingo", in a row, and on the patern of land divission in the countryside arround. We have taken as the most important dominant formal presences the last century wharfs for corn storage, the remains of the old castle and the great masses of solid bricks represented by the convents of Santa Clara and San Francisco. We planned a square block typology for the head (although unfinished becouse of property problems), with the same dimension as the tower of the castle. In a forward position a more suburban typology of houses in a row is proposed, finishing the whole complex with a building that solves the problem of the slope betwen the inside and outside street. On the inside a big comunitary garden-square with a ludic use is organized. |
